How it started
I kept noticing the same pattern. Someone would post in the building's Facebook group or WhatsApp chat when relatives were visiting: "Does anyone have a parking spot free this weekend?" More often than not, no replies — even though empty spaces were sitting right outside.
The information wasn't missing. The willingness to share wasn't missing either. What was missing was a frictionless way to make it happen. Responding to a chat post, agreeing on payment, and making sure everything is clear is more effort than most people bother with — especially for a few hours or a single weekend.
Then another thought hit me: what if I could use a neighbor's parking spot near my workplace, while they used mine near their home? Two empty spaces suddenly meeting two real needs — without anyone having to front money or send twenty messages to sort it out.
Why it's harder than it sounds
Lending or renting a parking space to a neighbor sounds simple, but in practice it often ends in a WhatsApp thread nobody keeps track of, a payment that gets forgotten, or a dispute about who promised what.
Housing association boards end up managing complaints without any documentation. Space owners don't want to charge neighbors in a way that feels awkward or transactional. And people looking for a spot never really know if a space is actually free — or if their chat message was even seen.
SpotBuddy is built to fix exactly that: a clearer flow, digital payments, and booking history that makes sharing feel easy and fair for everyone involved.
What we believe in
Where we are now
SpotBuddy is early. We are building the product and growing the waitlist ahead of a pilot launch in Malmö, Göteborg and Stockholm.
This is a one-person project that grew out of a genuine frustration — and a belief that neighbors actually want to help each other, as long as it is made easy enough. If that resonates with you, you are very welcome to join the list.
