FAQ

Choose what fits you.

The questions are grouped by role so the decision-relevant details are easier to scan.

Does my housing association need to approve me renting out my space?

That depends on your association's rules. SpotBuddy does not replace them, but it can make them easier to follow with clearer bookings, payments, and history in one flow.

How do payments work?

Bookings and payments are handled through SpotBuddy to protect both sides and create clearer records. That reduces the need for separate messages, manual transfers, and vague arrangements.

What if the person renting my space causes damage or parks incorrectly?

SpotBuddy is designed to make situations easier to understand through verified users, booking history, and documentation. Responsibility and consequences still depend on local rules, the agreed terms, and the specific situation.

Can I pause or remove my space whenever I want?

Yes. The idea is that you should be able to control availability, block dates, and remove times whenever you need the space yourself.

How do I know the person booking is trustworthy?

SpotBuddy is built around verified users, clearer booking history, and more traceable interactions than loose group chats or informal side deals.

Do I need to report the income for tax?

You remain responsible for your own tax filing and for following the current rules that apply to you. SpotBuddy can make bookings, amounts, and documentation easier to track, but it does not replace legal or tax advice.

What if my housing association does not allow parking-space rentals?

SpotBuddy cannot give you a right to rent out the space if your association rules do not allow it. If you are unsure, you need to check what applies in your BRF. Many associations do not have clear formal barriers, but written approval is best when the rules are unclear.

What counts as capital income when renting out a parking space?

For a privately owned parking space, the income is usually something you need to assess as capital income in your tax filing. A SEK 40,000 standard deduction may apply depending on how the space is connected to your home, and any surplus is generally taxed at 30 percent. This is general information, not tax advice. What do free parking windows mean?

They are time slots when the space is offered at no cost. They are shown clearly in the booking flow so both the owner and the driver can see when they apply.

Can I book parking for a guest or family member?

That is a common use case. Exact conditions may depend on how access and booking rules are set up, but SpotBuddy is being built for real near-home parking needs, not only for the driver making the trip personally every time.

What happens if I arrive and the space is occupied?

Clear booking history, verified users, and documentation are meant to make the situation easier to sort out. If something still goes wrong, the case needs to be assessed against the booking and the terms that applied.

Can I book recurring parking, for example every week?

Yes. Recurring needs are a core part of the use case. SpotBuddy is being built to work for both one-off bookings and more regular routines.

How do payments work?

Booking and payment are handled through the platform in the same flow. That creates clearer receipts, less manual friction, and better protection for both sides.

What do free parking windows mean in practice?

It means certain time slots on a listed space are available at no cost. They are shown clearly in the booking flow so you can compare them directly with paid times.

Can the board see who is renting out and to whom?

SpotBuddy is built to offer better traceability and clearer records when a housing association wants more structure around local parking. Exactly what visibility applies depends on the association's setup.

What happens if a resident rents out without board approval?

SpotBuddy does not override association rules. If approval is required, that still needs to be followed, but the platform can make it easier to set up clear boundaries, approval flows, and documentation.

Can SpotBuddy still be useful if we do not allow rentals to outsiders?

Yes. The platform can be configured so bookings are visible only to residents in the building. If outside rentals are not allowed at all, SpotBuddy can still create order around internal swaps and temporary arrangements.

How are bookings and payments handled?

Bookings and payments are handled through SpotBuddy to make the process clearer, reduce informal side arrangements, and create better records when questions come up.
